There is a worldwide need to develop low-cost technologies to proactively limit infectious disease transmission via point-of-use devices that are rapid, sensitive, and accurate. We have developed fundamental particle diffusometry (PD) algorithms and translated PD from the research laboratory to a handheld detection platform with integrated thermal control and microscope hardware, disease specific testing kits and smartphone app algorithms, enabling detection to be done in the field. These disease agnostic device is applicable to detecting a wide range of waterborne and bloodborne pathogens.
