Abstract

Hypertensive women post-delivery were asked to participate in a study to evaluate mobile health (mhealth) use to monitor vital signs and have their care managed by a nurse call center. The purpose of this study was to describe how often mHealth users and non-users contacted or responded to a call by a nurse at the call center. A statistical difference was found for users and non-users for times they contacted the call center. Users also successfully answered 71.9% of nurse-initiated calls based on triggered alerts from the devices to the call center. While results from this study were positive, future research should focus on improving patient engagement in communication with their health care team.
