We report a real-time fluorescence nucleic acid testing device (andMDx) for malaria field detection. The device consists of a compact analyzer and a disposable microfluidic reagent compact disc. The battery-powered handheld instrument is integrated with mechanical, thermal and optical subsystems with data connectivity. LCD touchscreen and smartphone connectivity offer a user-friendly interface for easy operation.
