The Seattle Flu Study (SFS) was conducted during the 2019 flu season to pilot a new system for detecting infectious disease outbreaks, as well as improve disease monitoring and response. As part of the SFS, we aimed to examine the feasibility of a system whereby individuals conduct a rapid diagnostic self-test for influenza, which could be used as a flu monitoring and response tool. A total of 1,146 participants ordered and received kits. Of those who received the kit, 831 (95.3%) completed all steps, and 806 (92.4%) completed the test correctly.
