Session: Optimization I

Abstract

A novel input and output blend calculation method is presented for decoupled control of selected modes. Decoupling is carried out by maximizing the minimum sensitivity of the controlled mode while minimizing the worst case gain for other mode(s) from the blended input to the blended output. This leads to an optimization problem of joint maximization of the $mathcal{H}_{-}$ index of the controlled mode and the minimization of the $mathcal{H}_{infty}$ norm corresponding to other modes. The optimization problem is formalized with Linear Matrix Inequalities, and two examples from the aerospace engineering field are given for evaluation purposes.
