Autonomous vehicles entail considerable advantages but, at the same time, they involve several legal issues. Among these open problems, liability, data protection, and cybersecurity play a central role. For this reason, the regulation of self-driving cars represents an urgent challenge. In particular, the main question consists in establishing if it is possible to apply extensively the existing legislation or it is necessary to introduce an ad hoc legal framework for self-driving cars in order to regulate these open issues.
