Mathematical optimization can be used to enhance numerous applications and create new opportunities. In this paper, the concept of a current sensor that detects the position of the current-carrying conductor is introduced. The additional information is gathered using model-based nonlinear optimization and multiple magnetic field sensors. A prove of principle device is built and experimentally evaluated.
