Accurate understanding and monitoring of kinetic parameters in remote settings could provide important clinical information. In this paper, we introduce a low-cost, body-networked wearable system composed of an instrumented insole and a soft joint angle sensor. We estimated the magnitudes of the ground reaction force (GRF) and center of pressure (CoP) as a proof-of-concept, and achieved root mean square errors of 47 N (6.0%) and 0.79 cm (3.4%), respectively. We believe that our wearable system has great potential to enable accurate monitoring of kinetic parameters in ambulatory settings.
