Abstract

A new biosensor, “ESSENCE” meets the ASSURED (Affordable, Sensitive/No false-negatives, Selective/No false-positives, User-friendly, Rapid, Equipment-free and DeliveMursalatred) criteria set by WHO for POC diagnostics. The flow through a nanoporous electrode results in an enhanced shear force (~ hydrogen bond) that makes the biosensor very selective and prevents non-specific adsorption, false positives, and biofouling. ESSENCE is rapid, robust, has high sensitivity (no false negatives), and allows in-situ sensor regeneration. Initial tests with p53 a cancer biomarker shows a LOD of 0.5 pg/mL and a linear range of 6 orders.
