This paper is starting from a well-known reliability scheme introduced early on by Moore and Shannon, known as hammock networks. Taking inspiration from axon communication, which relies on ion channels distributed on cylindrical structures, we introduce here a generalization of the classical (2D) hammock networks by mapping them onto a cylinder. We then proceed to calculate exactly the reliability polynomials of small cylindrical (2.5D) hammock networks. These reliability polynomials are reported here for the first time ever, while comparisons with equivalent classical (2D) hammock networks reveal reliability enhancements.
