U.S. Healthcare costs are rising at an unsustainable pace and the State of Maryland, in conjunction with the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), seeks to establish geographic regions centered around hospitals, to control the costs associated with treatment of Medicare beneficiaries and Medicare-Medicaid dual-eligible beneficiaries. We believe that Geographic Information Systems represents technology that can visually combine Maryland's vast healthcare data resources and non-healthcare data that may be correlated to outcomes and/or cost to achieve real and meaningful insights and cost controls from an overall value-based healthcare perspective.
