Abstract

Ballistocardiography (BCG), a non-invasive technique for assessing left ventricular function, is susceptible to motion artifacts, which are directly related to the magnitude of the body sway. The ideal distance between the feet of a person standing on a force plate that measures BCG is investigated and a wide stance of 22.9 cm is found to provide the best average BCG signal-to-noise ratio of 7.1 dB.
