Abstract

We present a device that can be used to help in rehabilitation of gait related pathologies. This device contains 64 pressure sensors and displays gait data in real time wirelessly over a mobile phone application. This device consists of a shoe insole embedded with pressure sensors, a microcontroller unit to collect the data, a Bluetooth communication system to send the data to a mobile phone, and a mobile phone application. The output of the device is a real-time pedobarograph, while the user is walking. All electronics are inside a black box that can be fitted onto an individual's shoe or ankle. The total estimated cost for one device is under $75CAD.
