Session: Advances in Sleep Theranostics I

Abstract

There has been a technological explosion of computational techniques and powerful smartphone and other miniature hardware devices that could revolutionize the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. However, attended in facility sleep studies (polysomnography) and home sleep apnea testing while utilizing digital recording still rely on traditional sensors and human scoring. The core values derived from sleep studies have also changed little since the birth of sleep medicine. Some areas of opportunity for use of technology in sleep medicine and the associated challenges will be discussed.
